  1. Experts believe Prince William has managed to leave Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in a large amount of pressure to perform after their ‘major coup’. For those unversed, this monumental coup d'etat’ has been staged alongside billionaire and activist Michael Bloomberg. Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams even hailed the duo’s achievements in the field of environmental protection and told Express that this move “shows yet again how royal patronage can yield huge results” and also “underlines the enormous pull being royal has.” He also admitted to the outlet, “It is a huge coup for William to get Michael R. Bloomberg, the United Nations Secretary General's Special Envoy on Climate Ambition and Solutions as a Global Advisor to the Winners of the Earthshot Prize, which the Duke of Cambridge launched in October 2020. “It is the most prestigious environmental prize in history, aiming to inspire collective action to save the planet by stimulating ideas to help achieve this.” “In this, William is following in the footsteps of his father, the Prince of Wales and his grandfather Prince Philip. It shows yet again how royal patronage can yield huge results, William's meeting with President Xi of China in 2015 had an influence on China's banning of the trade in ivory in 2017. This underlines the enormous pull being royal has.”

  4. A Serbian volleyball player has been hit with a two-match ban after making a racist gesture during a match against Thailand. Sanja Djurdjevic was photographed pulling at the corners of her eyes with her fingers, a derogatory gesture towards Asians. The incident happened during her side's 3-0 victory over the Thai team at the Volleyball Nations League in Rimini, Italy, on June 1. The sport's governing body said its disciplinary committee found that she "violated the FIVB Disciplinary Regulations following a gesture made during the Volleyball Nations League 2021 match between Serbia and Thailand". "Ms. Sanja Djurdjevic has received a two-match suspension," an FIVB statement said. The Volleyball Federation of Serbia was also fined 20,000 Swiss francs. In a Facebook post on Wednesday, the Serbian federation said it accepted the FIVB's decision. "Once again, our sincere apologies to all affected and big thanks to the Thailand Volleyball Association for understanding and friendly attitude," it said. But it insisted that the gesture "wasn't meant to be provocative or insulting". "We understand the point of view of the FIVB, even if, as we argued, culturally, we see this gesture as rather affectionate, that it may be interpreted in a negative way by the Asian people."
  5. LOS ANGELES (REUTERS) - Golden States Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins' request for religious exemption from the Covid-19 vaccine has been denied and he will not be able to play in his team's home games without being vaccinated, the NBA said on Friday (Sept 24). The 26-year-old Canadian, who averaged 18.6 points and 4.9 rebounds in 71 games with the Warriors last season, was seeking an exemption given the city of San Francisco has a vaccine requirement for large indoor events. "The NBA has reviewed and denied Andrew Wiggins' request for religious exemption from the San Francisco Department of Public Health's order requiring Covid-19 vaccination for all participants age 12 and older at large indoor events," the NBA said in a statement. "Wiggins will not be able to play in Warriors home games until he fulfills the city's vaccination requirements." The Warriors have pre-season homes games scheduled for Oct 6, 8 and 15 and will play their regular-season home opener on Oct 21. Wiggins was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the first overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft but never played for the team as he was traded two months later to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
  6. It was fitting that the clinching shot of Team Europe’s 2021 Laver Cup victory came off the racquet of Andrey Rublev. It happened in the form of a crunching crosscourt volley winner, giving Rublev and Alexander Zverev a 6-2, 6-7 (4), 10-3 win over the Team World duo of Reilly Opelka and Denis Shapovalov—a result that gave Team Europe an insurmountable 14-1 lead. “These guys are very serious,” said Team Europe captain Bjorn Borg. “We joking now, because we have a good team spirit, and we have been joking for a week. But when it comes down to play match points and sets, we are all very serious. That's what's all about in tennis.” Rublev was responsible for six of those 14 points, and he won them across singles and doubles matches. That the 23-year-old did this speaks well to what proved a deceptive set of skills. Rublev’s Friday singles win, a 4-6, 6-3, 11-9 triumph over Diego Schwartzman, was a familiar case of Rublev’s grit and groundstrokes just barely squeaking past an equally tenacious rival to earn a single point for Team Europe. Andrey Rublev did it all for Team Europe in a lopsided fourth edition of the Laver Cup The surprise was Rublev’s laser-sharp doubles play. Saturday evening, Rublev paired with Stefanos Tsitsipas to subdue the Team World duo of Nick Kyrgios and John Isner, 6-7 (8), 6-3, 10-4. Cracking missile-like returns and groundstrokes off both flanks all match long, as well as making his share of dart-like volleys, Rublev took things to a new level in the match-deciding tiebreaker and helped his team win two points (first day Laver Cup matches count for one point, while day two matches count for two and day three's for three). Partnered in Sunday afternoon’s first match with Zverev versus another big server in Opelka and the always dangerous Shapovalov, Rublev again proved the king of the court, his flat, concussive arsenal repeatedly breaking open rallies to earn the three points that carried Team Europe to the title for the fourth time in four tries. It was an impressive Laver Cup debut. “Of course on the tennis court was amazing atmosphere, amazing stadium with amazing crowd full of people, which all of us was missing a lot, especially after such a tough time,” said Rublev

  9. Microsoft is preparing a pair of upgrades for collaboration platform Teams that will help users customize their video feeds to better suit their needs. As per two new entries in the company’s product roadmap, Teams will soon allow users to hide their own video feed during calls and, conversely, to pin it to the screen. The two new options will cater to different user preferences, Microsoft suggested. The ability to conceal one’s own video feed is said to “help reduce distractions”, while the option to pin the feed lets users position themselves alongside co-workers on-screen, if they are so inclined. We've built a list of the best business webcams around Here's our list of the best VoIP services out there Check out out list of the best headsets for conference calls right now Both new features are still currently under development, but are scheduled to roll out to all users by the end of November. Microsoft Teams update Since the start of the pandemic, almost all professionals have had to find a way to make video conferencing and remote collaboration work for them. In the same way some prefer one medium of communication over another (i.e. text chat over email), some people prefer to use each individual service in a particular manner too. In recognition of this fact, the major players in the collaboration space have made a concerted effort to give users as much control over their personal setup as possible. For example, Microsoft Teams now offers a variety of display options, including a massive gallery view for large-scale meetings. When it comes to the user’s own video feed, however, Teams is currently a step behind competitors like Zoom and Meet, both of which already give users the option to minimize and pin. Currently, the user’s video is displayed in the bottom right corner, come what may. While the new additions may appear insignificant in isolation, they will contribute towards an overall feeling of flexibility that Teams users are bound to appreciate. 10. Intel appears to be in the final throes of launching its first generation Arc graphics and the nomenclature has leaked out in due order. Intel created a usage guide for add in board members and it inclued details that we had not seen before (@momomo_us via videocardz), including the fact that the generations will be referred to as Intel Arc aXXX, bXXX, cXXX and dXXX respectively. Interestingly, Arc is also not capitalized. Intel Arc a170, a150 and a130 are all potential naming schemes (along with other variations) Not going to lie, I am a bit dissappointed to see Arc will not be capitalized. Imagine NVIDIA being spelled as Nvidia, just not the same effect. Hopefully the box art will more than make up for it as we have already seen glimpses of marketing lore with alchmeist that looks absolutely awesome. The leaked design document mentions that the first generation of GPUs will be reffered to as Intel Arc a-series as well as Intel Arc a-series graphics and they are not to be referred to as 1st generation Intel Arc graphics. Although this does not apply to the press of course, and we would always fondly refer to these as the first generation of Intel's most publicly applauded attempt to date to diversify (remember 5g?) to date. Now the nomenclature was hashed out, but considering Intel is planning exactly three SKUs we can take some educated guesses at what the naming scheme could be. Here are some of our more likely guesses: Intel Arc a300, a500 and a700 (performance wise) Intel Arc a130, a150 and a170 (performance wise) Intel Arc a800, a600 and a200 (referring to the number of Xe slices)
  11. LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM:Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Sunday said that the former leaders of Afghanistan are to blame for the current situation there, Geo.tv reported Monday. Qureshi's remarks came during a working dinner organised by the Pakistan High Commission in London, United Kingdom, on Sunday evening. He is in London on a three-day official visit after the conclusion of his trip to New York where he attended the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Qureshi will have meetings with the chairman of the British Foreign Affairs Committee, members of the British Parliament, and his counterpart Elizabeth Truss at the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office during the trip. "Former president of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai — who held office from 2001 to 2014 — used to accuse Pakistan of interfering in his country's matters," Qureshi said. The foreign minister added that because of the war in the country and the decision taken by the former leaders, the people of Afghanistan had to suffer for a long time. "The people of Afghanistan are tired of war and only want peace and stability in their country," he said. Qureshi also turned guns on Western countries for the situation in Afghanistan and said that "they are trying to make Pakistan a scapegoat." "[As opposed to the narrative of Western countries] Pakistan is not a safe haven for terrorists. Western media outlets should come here and see the situation for themselves," Qureshi maintained. He also spoke about the interim Taliban government in Afghanistan and said that both Pakistan and the United Kingdom are on the same page when it comes to the demand for an inclusive government in the country. "The United Kingdom supports the idea of an inclusive government in Afghanistan, and this exactly what Pakistan wants too," the foreign minister said. "While the two countries may have different approaches to dealing with the situation, the goal is the same", per Geo.tv. Qureshi also talked about the probability of a humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan and urged Britain to contact the Taliban government to resolve the issue. He warned that if the world isolates Afghanistan, then there will be a refugee problem and people will turn to Europe for help. "Pakistan is ready to be at the centre of relief activities in Afghanistan and will extend all possible support to the people there," said Qureshi.
